A Sunshine Coast family is at the centre of a modern-day fairytale after winning $1 million in Wednesday Gold Lotto.
The Noosaville family wished to remain anonymous, but Noosa Civic News owners Alan and Larraine Marchant described them as “Aussie battlers”.
“They approached me before the shop opened and said, ‘We’ve got a surprise for you’,” he said.
“I got a call from Gold Lotto and I knew it was right.”
Barbara McNeil of Fuquay-Varina is the first to claim $1 million in the “$130 Million Blockbuster” instant lottery game introduced last month. McNeil bought her winning ticket at the Grocery Boy Jr. #39 on Kildaire Farm Road in Cary.
